Our vision for ONE38 was to establish it as the premier destination for amenity-rich living in Mott Haven. The logo icon cleverly incorporates the letters O, 3, and 8, while also serving as a yin-yang symbol that emphasizes wellness as the heart of the building.

The name "Opal" was chosen to reflect its lighter-toned facade. Its sister property, "Onyx," is next door and features a darker facade.

The sculptural articulation of the facade serves to enhance the user experience by providing multi-directional views and a varying daylighting experience for many of the street-facing units, while also providing a unique streetscape and a welcome point of interest to the surrounding context.

The name MATOBU is derived from the phrase "Mah Tovu Ohalecha Ya'akov Mishkenotecha Yisrael," a blessing given by Bil’am to the Israelites, recognizing how they had transformed their homes into sanctuaries for the Divine presence.

The logo's identity was designed to embody this blessing. The visual mark ensures that none of the "entrances" face each other, symbolizing a community where residents can enjoy their homes without feeling envy towards their neighbors.
